The Education Law Consortium connects those concerned
with improving education law and policy – researchers from across
academic fields; practitioners in elementary, secondary, and higher
education settings; attorneys and the judiciary; and legislators and
other policy makers.
The ELC is dedicated to encouraging informed policy
setting and decision making through providing ready access to current,
accurate, and non-partisan information, research, and analysis. Some
of this the ELC faculty produces itself, some it solicits, and some
it collects.
Related to the latter, the Consortium is sponsoring
the Education Law and Policy Forum, inviting students from all academic
disciplines to submit a paper for publication in Volume 3 of the electronic
journal launched in Fall, 2005 and for presentation at a national
student conference hosted at the Institute of Higher Education,
University of Georgia. The third annual national student conference will occur on September 21-22 in Athens.
The consortium is housed at the Institute
of Higher Education at the University
of Georgia. The Institute of Higher Education at the University
of Georgia offers the Ed.D. and Ph.D. in higher education, and students
may earn an M.P.A. with a higher education specialization through
the School of Public and International Affairs.
